Cutting Edge Surface Technology of Euro – A Cross-Disciplinary & Cross-Generation Dialogue in Taiwan

隨著技術升級與產品個性化的增長趨勢,開始湧現許多新興的表面技術。

為了使台灣的表面技術與國際接軌,科技部全球事務與科學發展中心(MOST Center for Global Affairs and Science Engagement, GASE)與逢甲大學(Feng Chia University, FCU)主辦主題演講《歐洲前沿表面技術-跨域與跨世代的台歐對接》,並邀請Prof. Allan Matthews, Dr. David Thomas Allan Matthews以及Prof. Jaroslav Vlček 等三位學者分享各領域的專業知識。

Prof. Allan Matthews為曼徹斯特大學BP國際高等材料中心的主任,他分享了離子輔助物理氣相沉積技術的專業知識。演講主題為“離子輔助PVD技術應用於摩擦學和保護性塗層的歷史和未來發展“。

目前為止,離子輔助PVD技術經歷多次發展的浪潮,從直流二極離子鍍實現金屬保護膜到增強等離子系統發展陶瓷膜,進一步發展離子源及蒸鍍源及監控系統,滿足特定產品和塗層需求進行開發。他也表示技術和塗層特性逐漸數字化,能滿足工業4.0的需求

特溫特大學固體表面和系統力學(MS3)副教授Dr. David Thomas Allan Matthews的演講主題為“應用於表面設計和工程的雷射加工技術”。內容討論到觸控表面設計的趨勢及抗菌應用的表面設計。

在Dr. Matthews的演說中,雷射紋理加工能改變表面結構極特性,而多種功能特性組成單一紋理需要極高的精度。以髖關節的植入物為例,需同時具備抗菌性、生物相容性以及機械表面性能。表面設計的未來挑戰將包括表面可視化工具和增強建模技術,以便集成到工業製程。

西波西米亞大學的物理系主任 Prof. Jaroslav Vlček教授分享了他在反應性沉積和製備熱致變色塗層製備方面的經驗。 主題為“控制反應性HIPiMS:可調氮氧化物和熱致變色氧化物的低溫沉積技術”。

Vlček教授說,脈衝反應氣體流量控制有助於沉積高光學透明薄膜,提高了光學產業的競爭力。以熱致變色智能窗為例。全方位的節能技術不再是一種概念上的商品,而是真正進入了你我的生活。

為了促進國際間學術及技術交流,《歐洲前沿表面技術-跨域與跨世代的台歐對接》邀請專家、學者分享專業知識和經驗,為企業家、學者和學生瞭解最新的世界趨勢。

With the technological development and the growing trend of product individualization, many new surface technology processes is beginning to emerge.

In order to bring Taiwan’s surface technology more in line with international practice, MOST Center for Global Affairs and Science Engagement (GASE) and (Feng Chia University (FCU) hosted an event “2019 GASE Formosa + Global Expert – Cutting Edge Surface Technology of Euro – A Cross-Disciplinary & Cross-Generation Dialogue in Taiwan” in FCU Gloria. The event featured three expert guests, Prof. Allan Matthews, Dr. David Thomas Allan Matthews and Prof. Jaroslav Vlček to share their expertise on the topic.

Prof. Allan Matthews, Director of BP International Centre for Advanced Materials, The University of Manchester, shared his expertise on the plasma-assisted PVD processes. The topic is “A Historical and Future Perspective on plasma-assisted PVD Processes for Tribological and Protective Coatings.”

Prof. Matthews said that there are many waves of plasma assisted PVD development, ranging from the realization of metal protective coating by DC diode ion plating to the development of ceramic coating by enhanced plasma systems, and finally the further ion and vapor source developments and monitoring systems to meet the coating needs of specific products and applications. He also expressed that digitalization of processes and coating properties can meet the needs of modern Industry 4.0 demands

Dr. David Thomas Allan Matthews (Dave), associate professor of mechanics of solids surfaces and systems (MS3), University of Twente, talked about the “Laser Processing for Surface Design & Engineering”. Discussing the trends of surface design for touch and surface design for antibacterial applications.

In Dr. Matthews talk, laser textures can change the surface structure and the characteristics, and several functional surfaces combined in a single texture require higher precision. For example, the hip joint implant need to have antibacterial, biocompatibility and mechanical surface properties. Future challenges in surface design will include Surface Visualization tools and enhanced modeling techniques for integration in Industrial processes.

Prof. Jaroslav Vlček, Head of Department of Physics, University of West Bohemia, shared his experience on the reactive HiPIMS deposition and the preparation of thermochromic VO2-based coatings. The topic is “Controlled reactive HIPiMS : Effective technique for low-temperature deposition of tunable oxynitrides and thermochromics oxides”

Prof. Vlček said that pulsed reactive gas (oxygen) flow control contributes to deposit highly optically transparent films, enhance the competitiveness of the optical industry. Take thermochromics smart windows as an example, the full range of energy-saving technologies is no longer a conceptual commodity, but actually enters our lives.

In order to elevate international academic exchange and enhance conversation on technology, “Cutting Edge Surface Technology of Euro – A Cross-Disciplinary & Cross-Generation Dialogue in Taiwan” invite experts and scholars to share their professional knowledge and experience, the lectures provide entrepreneurs, scholars, and students a gateway to the world’s latest trends.
